Bodo Northern Lights Safaris: Chase the Aurora

While we search for clear skies, our knowledgeable guides will share fascinating insights about the auroras and the region’s natural beauty. If the Northern Lights appear, our guides will take you to the outside deck for the best viewing option. During the tour you can relax in our comfortable, modern hybrid-electric vessels with large windows to ensure great viewing options. From beginning of September to April the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Northern Norway are great. The weather (cloud cover) and the geomagnetic prognosis determine where the road takes us on the given day. We will take you where the chances of clear skies are the greatest and the best locations for seeing the Northern Lights. We go all in to find the Northern lights by checking 25+ different spots. Some nights we have a late return to Bodo (like 2 am). Last seasons we have had a hit rate around 80 %. Before the trip starts we will advice on how the chances to see the lights are. We head out from town in a comfortable Mercedes 7 seater van (4WD) with panoramic sunroof.

How the Northern Lights Safari Works Your journey begins at the Rampen Adventure Hub, where you’ll receive a short introduction to the evening’s program and what to expect. From there, we set off by car, guided to the locations that offer the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights. If the weather and conditions allow, we will step out into nature, breathe in the crisp Arctic night, and enjoy something warm to drink as we wait for the skies to come alive.

Experience raw nature and the "winter wonderland" at Helgeland! You will feel amazed as you ride your snowmobile through the amazing surroundings on this safari. Helgeland is the southernmost region where you can find the Northern Lights. In this tour, we will chase for an opportunity to see the phenomenon. The main guide for this offering is an experienced photographer with surround knowledge of Aurora photography.

The cozy beach of Ausvika is the perfect place to escape into the beauty of nature. The journey begins with 8 km easy ebike ride, followed by a 1,5 km trail hike along the sea. Once you arrive, the beach is an ideal spot to unwind. We set up a bonfire to provide warmth and a cozy ambiance in the darkness. The crackling fire contrasts beautifully with the starry sky, and the sound of waves adds to the peaceful surroundings. During the stay, you may be fortunate enough to witness one of nature’s most incredible spectacles - the northern lights. The Aurora Borealis could light up the night sky in a stunning display of colors, making this an unforgettable moment. Our tour is unique as we stay local rather than driving distances in search of the right conditions. The camp is a main part of the experience, and we only do the tour when weather and auroral activity is favorable. With a full refund in case of cancellation. Snowshoeing is a good way to enjoy the snow if you are not steady on a pair of skis. The snowshoe trip is fully guided, and we’ll provide you with the necessary gear. To maximise your chances of having a great experience, it’s important to dress warmly.   Daytime Snowshoe Trips. This is a great way to enjoy the winter landscape and the Arctic wilderness near Bodø. We’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the nature, and on a guided tour you can immerse yourself in new knowledge about the Norwegian nature. Arctic Night Snowshoe Hike. A bit adventurous? Then consider a mysterious evening snowshoe hike, which could be your chance to see the Northern Lights. You’ll then get a feeling of a winter night above the Arctic Circle. During the hike, we’ll stop by for a break, make an open fire and enjoy a hot drink.
