The itinerary will bring you to the famed White Dune and to one of Dakhla's "secret spots", on the shore opposite to the White Dune itself. Both belong to the larger system of the bay of Dakhla, which is part of the RAMSAR international network for the protection of wetlands. Depending on tides, you will have plenty of time to gently stroll on these two long beaches searching for shells, fiddler crabs, marks left by rays, and (with a bit of luck) for one of the region's "living fossils" - come ready to walk barefoot on the sand! The area is home (or an important stop-over) for resident and migratory birds, such as Flamingos, Herons, Egrets, Spoonbills, Gulls and Terns. Desert fauna and flora are also flourishing just around these two spots, including plants of traditional importance and unbelievable parasitic flowers.
