I have been going to Benowa Tavern for over 10 years and have never been treated as bad as I was today. I went there today Friday 7th November for dinner and something felt very off. I did not recognise a single staff member. I went upto the counter to order meals and the man behind the counter could not speak English well at all, very hard to understand. I seemed to be repeating myself alot because he could not understand me and it was very difficult to understand a word he was saying. After a couple of frustrating minutes I asked another young lady to help me as I could not make out what he was saying because he seemed to be working there from another country. I asked the lady what I would like to east, very easily and fast to understand. I said that they shouldn't have anyone behind the counter that can't speak or understand English, her response was and I quote. (Well, he works here and if you don't like that you can leave) I said, are you kidding me? I said I will leave. This was absolutely disgusting and disgraceful, I will never return to this place ever again. I suggest to this place that when you hire people that they can speak and understand English and know how to treat people.

Just good food for a reasonable price. $20 Rump steak special was good. I ordered a med rare steak, and while it came out more as med well, it was still tender and well seasoned. Beers also well priced.

We had a big family booking of 30 people (ages 1 through to 90!) and Benowa Tavern was the perfect spot. The menu had something for everyone, and the facilities were great – kids loved the playground and arcade, while the accessible bathrooms made things easy for our older family members. There’s plenty of space with different seating options, so it never felt crowded. The staff were fantastic – really friendly and helpful, and they looked after us so well with the birthday celebrations and cake. Everything ran smoothly and nothing was too much trouble. Such a great place for families and big groups – highly recommend!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A hidden gem for food lovers and backgammon players Benowa Tavern has quickly become one of my favourite spots on the Gold Coast. The burger and chips were absolutely spot on—fresh, juicy, and full of flavour. But what truly sets this place apart is the backgammon vibe. It’s rare to find a venue that celebrates this classic game with such style—premium boards, timers, and a welcoming setup that invites both friendly and serious competition. The energy here is something else. You can feel the mix of focus, fun, and nostalgia in the air. Whether you’re here for a casual meal or a strategic game, Benowa Tavern delivers both in spades. Big thanks to the team for creating a space where food, community, and passion come together so perfectly. Highly recommend—especially if you’re a backgammon lover like me. 🎲🍔 Cheers Amir

I am not sure what it is, but every time the staff is miserable here Not flexible at all to change anything on the menu or charge extra for it This is 15$. Kids menu and my 8yr old stayed hungry
