We were seated at a table that was wobbly and unstable, making it difficult to dine comfortably. The table literally shook every time we placed our hands on it. This kind of situation is completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this level; it felt more like a cheap roadside eatery than a five-star hotel. This alone immediately set a negative tone for the evening, leaving my partner visibly upset. While a few staff members were polite and attentive, the majority appeared disengaged, indifferent, and lacking in basic hospitality. We were barely greeted or acknowledged unless we initiated the interaction first. The overall impression was one of coldness and poor coordination among the team. It did not reflect the warm, professional service one expects at a premium establishment like Le Meridien. Service efficiency was also disappointing. Used plates and dishes remained on our table for a long time after we finished eating, and I had to repeatedly raise my hand to call for attention before anyone came to clear them. This is not the kind of attentive service we expected, especially when dining at a five-star venue. As for the food, well it was average at best. Certainly not bad, but far from the exceptional quality and presentation suggested by online reviews. Some dishes, like the Sate Maranggi and the prawn-squid dish with red beans, were memorable, but the rest were rather unremarkable. However, the worst part of our experience occurred when we went to use the restroom. To our surprise, the toilets were located upstairs, requiring guests to climb a staircase; which is inconvenient. Even more concerning, the restroom appeared to be a shared facility with the event space area (?), and its cleanliness was far below standard. There were visible stains and unflushed human waste in at least two stalls, and it was clear that the facilities were not being regularly checked or maintained. There were no attendants on duty, no cleaning staff monitoring the area; a shocking oversight for a property under the Le Meridien brand. Both my partner and I encountered similarly unhygienic conditions in our respective restrooms. At that point, we decided to cut the evening short and leave immediately. What was meant to be a memorable celebration turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. To be clear, this is not a minor inconvenience; it reflects a serious lapse in service quality, hygiene, and operational management. We had expected an evening of comfort, warmth, and hospitality worthy of Le Meridien’s reputation, but instead we left feeling completely let down. Would we return or recommend La Brasserie to others? Absolutely not. I would instead suggest colleagues and friends dine at establishments like The Westin or Sheraton Grand Gandaria City, where the service and attention to detail are consistently excellent. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and reviews the current standards of service, staff training, and facility maintenance. Such issues should never occur in a hotel of this caliber.
