We came in as a group of 8 and only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated (two tables of four). The staff already took our orders while we were waiting, so everything was brought out quickly once we sat down. The service was incredibly friendly and efficient. We highly recommend trying the sets. Everything was absolutely delicious! A great experience overall, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Got in line around 6:30pm. Seated within ~ 10 mins. Meat quality of wagyu was worth it. Sirloin was also good but a little more chewy which is typical. All the sauces taste great but the best was the ginger sauce that came with the Wagyu. 100% would go again. Staff is already extremely friendly and they know how to get people in quickly. It's a rather small restaurant (maximum capacity of four people per table), located around a 10-minute walk from Kyoto's main train station. We arrived late in the day when the kitchen was about to close. We ordered straight away and everything was brought out quickly. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food was delicious: juicy meat cooked on the provided burner, generous portions of rice and tasty sauces. The prices are fair given the quality of the food. Highly recommended!

It is a must for me to visit one of their outlets whenever I am in Japan. The beef paired with their sauces is simply great, every bite feels like a little dance in my mouth. Service was perfect and there was no queue and was immediately brought to a table and meal was served in less then 15mins.

Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu at Kyoto Station is a great spot if you’re looking to try beef cutlet. The meat is tender, flavorful, and fun to cook to your liking on the little grill they provide at the table. The set meals are well-balanced and satisfying, making it a good place for a hearty meal before catching a train. That said, I tried their beef tongue and found it too chewy—I wouldn’t recommend that dish. Stick with the gyukatsu, which is definitely the highlight here. Overall, it’s a tasty and unique experience, just choose your cuts wisely.
