Maha Restaurant

I had been wanting to dine at this restaurant for quite some time, largely because of its glowing reviews. We finally made it there last night to celebrate one of my wife’s personal achievements, expecting a memorable experience. While the venue, staff, and ambiance were lovely, the food quality and portion sizes were quite underwhelming. We opted for the $135 per person set menu. Unfortunately, the dishes didn’t live up to the hype. The hummus was bland, I’ve had better from the supermarket. The Mount Zero chickpeas were watery and lacked flavour. The four grilled chicken wings served were tiny, and the Lebanese garlic dumplings were little more than floury clumps with no filling. The slow roasted lamb shoulder, meant to be shared among four adults, was closer to a single main portion you’d expect for one person at a decent restaurant. The first photo shows the main dish that was meant to be shared among four people surprisingly small for a $135 per head menu. In total, we spent $650, but the experience fell flat and left us disappointed. Despite its reputation as one of Melbourne’s best restaurants, the food didn’t come anywhere near close to expectations. There are countless other places in Melbourne that can do far greater justice to Middle Eastern cuisine.

This was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life. My friend and I had an incredible time. The service was great and the wait staff was so attentive and very friendly and helpful with menu recommendations and options. It was my birthday and I truly feel this was the perfect choice. Every single dish was made with such precision and the flavour profiles for each dish complimented each course. This was such a great food journey.

From the moment we walked in, everything about Maha impressed us — the warm lighting, elegant layout, and inviting atmosphere set the tone perfectly. We chose the Soufra banquet, and it was honestly one of the best dining decisions we’ve made in Melbourne. Each course delivered an incredible contrast of flavours and textures — bold, rich, and beautifully balanced. You could tell every dish was crafted with real care and creativity. The staff were outstanding — friendly, professional, and genuinely passionate about the food. They made the whole experience feel effortless and special. Incredible Cocktails as well 🍸 For the quality, service, and attention to detail, Maha offers one of the best-value fine dining experiences in Melbourne, easily on par with restaurants charging far more. It’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression — we’ll definitely be back.

Amazing service and great food. Jack was fantastic, very attentive and professional throughout our visit. He made the experience truly enjoyable and pleasant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommend this place and Jack's excellent service.

Maha is a fantastic dining spot in Melbourne, though it can be a little tricky to find at first – you need to head downstairs, and the entrance feels dark at a glance. Once inside, however, the space is always bustling with energy and a great vibe. The food here is truly outstanding. I tried both the full vegetarian tasting menu and the four-course tasting menu, and every dish was beautifully executed with incredible flavor. While the team can be a little inflexible with menu adjustments, the quality of what they serve more than makes up for it. The ambiance is elegant yet lively, and the wine recommendations were spot on, complementing the dishes perfectly. Overall, a memorable dining experience and definitely worth a visit if you’re in Melbourne.
