Cerro Negro volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua! This sensational experience begins from the city of León where we pick you up, we drive for approximately 1 hour until we reach the base of the Volcano, we start hiking through the rocky side for approximately 45 mins to 1 hour- beautiful views to Los Maribios mountain range and the beautiful contrasts of its surroundings are not to be missed. Once at the top we take a few minutes to enjoy the view, unique pictures! After the instructions and putting on the safety equipment we slide down the volcano. The speed is controlled by using your feet as breaks. The faster you go, the more extremer the activity. The name Ometepe means ‘two hills’ in the native ‘náhuatl’ language. The island measures 276 square kilometers and it houses two majestic volcanoes connected through a small strip of land.
