They are CELIAC FRIENDLY! This was an incredible experience. It felt like we had a 5 star experience as they put us into a private room, made sure we were very well taken care of, and we had some of the most amazing food of the entire trip so far! The gluten free dumplings were to die for, and the ramen was just amazing! Extremely creamy with unique add ons, but I loved it. My gluten eating friends appreciated the option to have gluten but even the dumplings that were gluten free they said was absolutely incredible. We had dumplings/por stickers- don’t quite remember, ramen, and the ice cream with sweet potato’s fries- warning it’s small so get one for each person- but phenomenal! Oh- it is a bit difficult to find as it’s down an alley, so look for the light on the ground for engine ramen and walk down the alleyway. This place is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was fantastic—super warm and inviting. What truly sets this restaurant apart are the incredible vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Also their immediate question about allergies shows a wonderful attention to guest safety and care. Seriously, both the traditional meat ramen and the vegan one were UNBELIEVABLY delicious and packed with flavour. The sake selection is extensive and top-notch, we’ve enjoyed trying a few different kinds. The team here is the best part: they are super friendly, welcoming and genuinely treat every guest like a valued friend or long-lost relative (and everyone speaks excellent English). Thank you for an amazing dinner and a truly wonderful evening! We highly recommend this spot to everyone—meat-eaters, vegans, and sake lovers alike! P.S. Complimentary origami classes are included! Osaka Engine Ramen has a cool entrance and a clean, stylish interior with good music, so first impressions are solid. But once you sit down it quickly feels more like a tourist spot than an authentic ramen place. The prices are steep — a single bowl costs more than double what you’d pay at a real local spot — and the ramen itself lacked depth of flavor. The staff’s enthusiasm also felt a bit forced, and I noticed there weren’t any locals eating there, only tourists. Overall, not terrible but definitely not worth the hype or the price.

One of the best vegan ramen I had in Japan. My husband had a meat ramen as well and he loved it. We both enjoyed our meals so much we went back a second time. The staff are absolutely lovely, helpful and speak some English. The vibe of the place was infectiously Japanese happy. We will be back and we will also be encouraging friends and family to try this fantastic restaurant! 👌😋❤️

Full 5 stars for this place, all lovely staff especially Akari who helped us with some origami and wrote out our names for us in katakana! Delicious food, The best vegan ramen we've had so far in Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka. Lovely relaxed vibes which were perfect for us after a long day on our feet. There was another man who served us and gave us some tasters of sake so we knew what to order, we didn't catch his name unfortunately but he was very welcoming and full of personality too. Thanks to everyone at engine for a lovely experience! 🙌🏻 🍜 🍶😋
