First night in Georgetown and looking for a restaurant with a slightly Western influence to it. Google suggested ‘White Smoke Restaurant’ with the reviews being excellent. I wasn’t disappointed. From entering the establishment you are warmly welcomed. The staff are very informative of the specials for the day and the á la carte menu. As the food is served, the staff member explains the intricacies of each dish which highlights the enjoyment of the experience. I will no doubt be returning! Absolutely delightful food.

A cosy place for luncheon. Friendly and attentive staffs. They will explain every dish that was served. Appetiser we had ox tongue, nasi ulam and spicy squid. Ox tongue is very tender and the nasi ulam sauce was tangy and very appetising with rice pops instead of normal steamed rice. Spicy squid tastes normal, drizzled with chili oil. For main we had pork collar, grilled snapper in lemon butter and tomyam paella. Out of the 3, i prefer grilled snapper. Nicely grilled with lemon burnt butter aroma.

White Smoke was a total surprise. The interior was sleek and stylish. The service was impeccable. And the food was amazing, perhaps the best we’ve had in Asia. There were numerous additional dishes on the menu that I wish we could have tried. If ever in Penang/Georgetown again. It will be a mandatory visit!

My wife and I discovered White Smoke by chance and were immediately impressed by the ambience and the friendly staff. This restaurant transcends the typical dining experience; it embodies a narrative through its food. The culinary philosophy here seamlessly combines the rich flavours of Penang’s Asian cuisine with Western influences, resulting in both comforting and adventurous dishes. Each plate is artfully crafted to balance flavours, textures, and presentation, showcasing a true passion for culinary innovation. The menu features standout items like the pork collar, duck magret, and beef cheek, all of which highlight the restaurant’s talent for harmonising unexpected ingredients. For the adventurous diner, the laksa ice cream paired with prawn paste tuile, candied cucumber, chilli pineapple jam, and fish sponge is a cleverly conceived delight that adds an element of playfulness to the dining experience. The restaurant's atmosphere strikes a beautiful balance between warmth and refinement, making it suitable for intimate dinners and special celebrations. The service was consistently excellent, characterised by attentive and knowledgeable staff like Elaine, eager to share the stories behind each dish. White Smoke embodies a unique combination of innovation, comfort, and genuine hospitality. Each visit feels special, and every bite seems prepared with thoughtful care. Tip: It is advisable to make reservations in advance, especially on weekends, as it has become a popular choice for locals and visitors.

Cozy ambient, a good place for friends' meet up. We ordered a few vegetarian menu. Some of them are special and unique. Need to pay slightly higher for the good quality of food and atmosphere. It is advisable to book the table for group dining.
