Somos Ecuador Restaurante

We were hosted by Fernando today as recommended by our hotel receptionist. Restaurant atmosphere is cosy and relaxed with warm lighting and an interesting interior design. We were warmly received by the staff who were very polite and pleasant, and tried their best to translate the menu into English for us. I had the 8 course tasting menu which was fascinating, certainly unlike the kinds of cuisine we’re used to. It was tangy, vibrant, colourful and just such a treat! Thank you everyone!

I’ve tried lots of restaurants in many countries and I was excited to try Somos but frankly didn’t read any reviews. I was frankly blown away, the food was freaking amazing, I had a ceviche that was frankly one of the best I’ve ever had(I’ve tried countless in Peru) this was otherworldly. I also had a Goat dish that I’m still thinking about as I’m writing this review. I typically do not have dessert but the food was so amazing that I gave in and let me tell you, I cannot remember a better tasting chocolate ever. Chocopop dessert is a must!(it takes 20mns to prepare) trust me it’s worth the wait. The service was excellent-Veronica was extremely attentive and helpful in recommending options.

Our dinner at Somos was excellent. We had two different empanadas that were delicious, and we had a shareable appetizer of seared beef served with toasted bread that was amazing. We could have stopped there as the portion sizes were generous, but we managed to make a dent in the delicious prawns and fish of the day dishes we had ordered. All of the staff was friendly and helpful, but the best was our server, Veronica, who was terrific; she could not have been nicer, more attentive, or more helpful in understanding the menu. Overall it was a fantastic experience and we would not hesitate to go back!

We had an amazing time at Somos. We had a welcome dinner here our travel group. They set up the tasting menu with the restaurant - an 8 course journey based on the 8 train stops in Ecuador. The tasting menu has bit my a meat and vegetarian options. I had the vegetarian menu, and it was delicious. Everything about the restaurant is fantastic. Every dish we had was amazing. The servers we had were exceptional. The atmosphere is laid back but refined. If you are looking for a unique dining experience in Quito, you cannot beat Somos!

Great spot in Quito for an elevated dining experience. The team was very accommodating to the various food allergies the group had and provided dishes that were an excellent substitute. The cocktail pairing was also a fun addition to the overall experience. Overall the food was fine but I would have liked to not have had a large gap between dishes.
