We came to The Farmers Union with a rather large group and are so glad we made reservations ahead of time—it was packed! We ended up having two extra people with us, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and found a way to seat us all together by pulling in an extra table off to the side. Huge shoutout to them for that flexibility. Even though they had us all order at the same time to help the kitchen stay coordinated, the food came out as it was ready—which is totally understandable given how busy it was. Each dish was absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor. The portions are generous—definitely sharable, especially for anyone who likes to try a bit of everything. The decor is… quirky in the best way. Some items might make you do a double take, but it gives the place a fun, unique charm that makes it memorable. Overall, great food, solid service under pressure, and a fun, eclectic vibe. Would absolutely come back—especially with a group! Stopped by Farmers Union in San Jose. Grabbed Kennebec fries fried in 100% beef tallow and brisket tacos. Both hit the spot with my Eagle Rare bourbon. Solid picks. The spicy shrimp linguine was flavorful and the meatballs were delicious. The Cesar salad was okay, I'd try the beet salad next time. Mocktails were delicious. The food was well prepared and came out fast. It's a really cute date night or hang out spot.

Our second time here. First time for lunch this one for a grad night dinner. The food is good and tasty and well prepared. I had the flat iron steak with chimichurri sauce. The steak was very well cooked - pink throughout with no grey ring - and properly seasoned. The chimichurri sauce was tasty. The presentation was so-so: a cut steak with a lump of green sauce on it so they could work on that. We had the smoky beans as a side and they were well seasoned and flavorful but a bit watery. Mashing a few beans to thicken it into a light sauce would have been better. Our waiter served us well. We sat at the bar for a beer and there were three bartenders who ignored us for several minutes before approaching. After that they served us well but prompter service should be offered.

Food was amazing!! Calamari appetizer was Awesome! Blackened Salmon was a 10+! Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup was Amazing! French Dip was Perfect! And the special Chicken Marsala was incredible! The drinks are stunning with my recommendation of the barrel-aged Manhattan being my personal favorite! Try that special bourbon flight, if available. It was incredibly enjoyable! Service was top notch! I love this place and it’s got my highest recommendation when I’m anywhere near San Pedro in San Jose!
