It's the first time we went there for brunch. What a lovely vibe this place has! Everyone was so lovely. A magician Emmanuel also came to our table to show us some magic. It was such a unique and amazing experience. My daughter absolutely enjoyed it too. The food was nice and I can't wait to try the other items.

I came here for a friend's birthday and I got the French onion soup, fish/tofu tacos, espresso martini and some oysters! The French onion soup was tasty and warm, perfect for a chillier day. Super cozy and the cheese was nice when still warm. It came with an extra piece of well toasted bread on the side. The tacos were pretty good. I preferred the fish ones over the tofu ones. The battered fish was light and crispy with a good flavour balance overall. The oysters were alright. It was my first time having fresh ones so I do not have much to compare them to. They seemed fresh and well prepared. The espresso martini was a good classic!

Ordered Friday’s Fish n Chips special ($15) and half price tequila for lunch. It was good although I wish the fries were a little crispier. I love pineapple juice so it was nice that they had that too. Waitresses were super friendly, hospitable, and when a minor hiccup occurred they offered to cover one of my shots. I found the couch throne chair extremely comfortable, something I especially value as a taller and larger individual.

First time visiting this location it was very busy on a Monday night . Had a live DJ the vibes were great. Went for happy hour ..drink specials and food specials were good. Got the wings the calamari and few drinks . The calamari was 10/10 , the wings were over cooked 4/10 . The drinks was good the martini and rum and coke basic can't go wrong. Server was quick and was always checking up . They just bring you the debit machine without the receipt lol you have to ask for the receipt I really don't understand that concept , am I just suppose to add everything I ordered and do mental math here ? Like bring the bill along with the debit machine ready with the 20% and above tip option. Other then this sketchy operation of not getting the receipt when asking to pay ,the place is worth a drop by when you are in the city for a night out.

Fox on John has a lot of potential. The food was good, and the service was great. One of the staff members, Will, was kind enough to move us to another table when the music got too loud, and I really appreciated that. That said, the music was way too loud. It was so hard to have a conversation that my throat actually hurt from talking over it. It felt more like a club than a restaurant, which doesn’t really fit the vibe they’re going for. The space itself is nice, and they’ve got a solid happy hour setup, but blasting country music on a Thursday night just ruins what could otherwise be a really great atmosphere. If they dialed down the volume, this could easily be one of the best spots on John Street.
