A Waiheke sunset tour is the perfect way to spend an evening on Waiheke Island where you'll witness the sun's gentle descent over the Hauraki Gulf. As the golden hour bathes the island's vineyards, beaches, you'll enjoy the island scenery with a glass of local wine in hand whilst savoring delicious food.

The tour commences with a drive along the scenic northern route, taking in spectacular views of the Hauraki Gulf and beyond to the Coromandel Peninsula. Along the way you will visit two vineyards for wine tasting and enjoy lunch and a glass of wine at the second stop. After lunch you will enjoy a scenic stop at Onetangi Beach and then if time allows, have a short stop in Oneroa village. You can make your own way back to the ferry when you are ready or alternatively the guide will return you to the Waiheke Wharf in time to catch the 5pm ferry back to Auckland.

The elevated seating on the double-decker bus offers excellent views as you travel between locations and enjoy your wines onboard. The tour finishes at Mudbrick Vineyard, one of Waiheke’s most famous wineries, where you enjoy wine tasting and stunning views over the Hauraki Gulf. After the visit, return directly to Auckland on the 3:30pm Island Direct Ferry, making this an easy and memorable way to experience Waiheke in just half a day.

The Waiheke Island Experience includes breathtaking vistas across the Hauraki Gulf, beautiful beaches and some of the best venues the island has to offer. This spectacular walk has a little bit of everything – bush, beach, headlands and vineyards. We start with a walk through restored and regenerating bush up to the headland for some breathtaking views of the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. We continue through lush, established bush tracks and rolling hills, where you’ll enjoy lovely views of valleys, vineyards and the sea. There’s time for wine tasting and/or lunch at two of Waiheke’s best-loved vineyards – Mudbrick Vineyard or Cable Bay Vineyards – with tasting options to suit all budgets.

Discover the outer Hauraki Gulf aboard the 41-foot catamaran Pacific Star, with daily departures from Waiheke Island. We’ll stop at a pest-free island for a guided walk, plus you’ll have opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding. Our guide will help you learn about the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, its islands and people. You’ll spot seabirds and may see dolphins, and even whales, as we glide along with the wind in our sails. This unique eco adventure is the only day sailing trip offered in the outer gulf and departing from Waiheke Island. If you’d like to take the helm or help us trim the sails, skipper Bruce will be happy to show you the ropes.
