About This Tour

DAY OF THE DEAD IS A MYSTICAL AND UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE. October 31st: Preparations for Day of the Dead in Zinacántán and San Juan Chamula. Day 1: The Romerillo and Zinacántán Cemeteries (cemetery and town). Day 2: The towns and cemeteries of Zinacántán and San Juan Chamula ROMERILLO - According to the indigenous belief of the community, the souls of the deceased arrive on foot to visit their relatives every November 1st. A visit to the Romerillo cemetery, located on a mountain crowned with 22 enormous Tzotzil crosses, is a very genuine, yet somewhat rude experience. Zinacántán - The cemetery will be decorated with an abundance of floral arrangements at an altitude of 2,700 meters, offering a beautiful view and a mystical atmosphere. Visit the church and a family of artisans to see the textiles made on a backstrap loom. SAN JUAN CHAMULA: ancestral indigenous celebrations at the cemetery, visit the church.
