About This Tour
The reindeer and the Sami have been living and working on this land for centuries and they have only recently invited guests to be part of their daily life. You will visit their camp and have a chance to feed the herd of around 300 wild reindeer who will swarm all around and some will even eat from your hands. You will also enjoy a 15-20 minute sleigh ride pulled by the reindeer. You will then be invited for hot drinks around the fire inside a warm candle lit gamme (Traditional Sami Hut) where a relaxed three course meal will be served, including bidos cooked over the open fire (a traditional Sami stew). After dinner you will be invited into a lavvu (Sami tent) and gather round the fire to listen to stories about Sami culture and how it is to be a reindeer herder. The Sami guide will also perform a joik (traditional Sami song) for the guests. If you are lucky and the sky is clear you will have a chance to see the northern lights above the reindeer camp.

DURATION: 4.5 hours SEASON: Daily from November 1st 2024 until April 5th 2025 MEETING POINT: 17.40 at the bus terminal at Tromsø Havn Prostneset, (Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008, Tromsø) There are two entrances at the bus terminal. One is by the buses and one is between the Terminal and the Clarion Edge. Our guides will be where the buses are ready to depart to camp. If you do go to the wrong entrances, walk through the terminal to the other entrance and you will find us there. WHAT IS INCLUDED: Transfer, guiding, warm overalls and boots if required, storytelling and joik, warm lunch, coffee and snacks. WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: Warm clothes (at least two layers), gloves and hat, good winter boots.
