About This Tour
Namo Buddha is the third holiest Buddhist site near the Kathmandu Valley. Unlike its more well-known counterparts of Swayambhu and Boudhanath, it is located in the tranquility of the outer reaches of the Kathmandu Valley. From its place comes a gentle quietness that allows for wonderful meditation as well as incredible views of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas to the north. Namo Buddha commemorates an earlier existence of Lord Buddha in his sacrificial love to a dying tigress. It was here that he offered his arm as well as his life to feed the dying tigress so she could feed her newborn cubs that lay dying because of their mother’s weakness. It is a wonderful place to contemplate such unselfish love of the young prince who would eventually become in another life the great Buddha himself. The journey begins at 8 am after breakfast and will return to your hotel around 2 pm.
