During the Winter we will focus on wolf watching, viewing moose, bison, elk, coyote, etc. We will depart your accommodations and head towards Yellowstone’s northern range, undoubtedly one of the prime wildlife viewing spots in the world, it harbors impressive bison herds, wolf packs, and meandering bears. Visitors are likely to depart from the park’s northern lands with at least one, if not more, checks on their wildlife card. Wild and pristine. When thinking about Yellowstone, a vast and amazing back-country, large carnivores, bison herds, iconic geysers, and geothermal features fill the imagination. The Lower Loop tour begins in Gardiner, Montana and begins heading south. Depending on external conditions, guide recommendation, and client preference, we can head either way around the loop.. We have extensive experience in navigating popular features and making it easier to fit them into our itinerary. From here, we make our way to some incredible thermal features and many of the most popular thermal basins. After a morning of visiting many of the thermal features between the Midway and Lower Basins, we'll head to the most iconic feature in Yellowstone, Old Faithful. From there we will travel over Craig Pass to Yellowstone Lake. Stopping at the West Thumb Thermal Basin; a thermal basin with unique structure and history. Then we will travel past Fishing Bridge. Next passing through Hayden valley to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, visiting the Upper and Lower Falls, and Artisan's Point. Today we'll be touring Yellowstone's upper, or northern loop, including visiting the best location in the lower 48 states to see wildlife! There are frequent stops along the way! Starting in West Yellowstone, we'll travel along the Grand Loop Road until we get to Canyon Village, where we'll head north, climbing up Dunraven Pass towards Mount Washburn. The tour passes through good grizzly bear terrain before stopping at Tower Falls. The Lamar Valley, Yellowstone's prime area for wildlife viewing, is the next major destination, followed by Mammoth Hot Springs. There is almost always an elk herd to be seen at Mammoth, along with the famous terraces and historic Fort Yellowstone. Roaring Mountain is on the way to Norris Geyser Basin, which is made up of two separate geyser basins and includes the world's highest active geyser. Time permitting, other locations at which we may stop include Calcite Springs, Undine Falls, and Obsidian Cliff.
