However keep in mind that, like in any mountaineering ascent, the climb implies some risks which should not be taken lightly. ITINERARY: Day 1: Huaraz - Base Mateo 4700 masl - Summit Matthew 5150 masl - Base Camp - Huaraz: Pick up from the lodgings at 2:30 am and departure from Huaraz at 3.00 a.m. Approximately, heading north of Huaraz, arriving at Carhuaz, it deviates to enter the valley of Ulta - Olympic Point, reaching the Base at 4700 meters above sea level. After a brief stop to have breakfast, you leave for the summit of Mateo, passing through the moraine. This summit is 5150 meters high, from where you can have great panoramic view of the snowy peaks of the Cordillera Blanca, such as the Huascarán Sur, Chopicalqui, Contrahierbas, Ulta, among other snowfalls. Return to the Base, to take the transport that will take us to Huaraz.

Join this full-day tour to tChavín de Huántar, an archaeological site located in the Ancash Region of Peru, 250 kilometers (160 mi) north of Lima, at an elevation of 3,180 meters (10,430 ft). Chavín de Huántar has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Chavín de Huantar Archaeological Monument was declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1985. It is considered the first Andean empire in South America. It is the parent culture Its stone carvings are unique. It has a lot of wealth and cultural and historical value for Peru and the world. It is considered as the most important pilgrimage center in the Andean world It is located in the middle of two rivers.

You will be picked up around 5AM from your hotel and reach the trailhead after ~3h drive. Beginning the trek, you will go through beautiful trek passes by alpine meadows and beside a river. The trail then ascends up along switchblades to reveal majestic waterfalls and streams. You'll enjoy views of two smaller lakes before your final ascent up the valley. After a steep incline up the mountain, you'll finally reach the renowned azure waters of Laguna 69 (~2h30/3h total hike). You will have ~1h30 of time to enjoy the view and have lunch (not incuded, bring your own picnic) before descending for another 1h30 hike and drive back to Huaraz. NB: this is not a private tour, so the vehicle will pick up different travelers in the morning. However, you will be free to explore and hike at your own pace.
