This tour starts by collecting you from your accommodation or an agreed meeting point. The town of Papeete was created in 1890 however its beginnings were in 1820 when Pastor Crook built a church on the seafront, a site now occupied by the main Protestant church. No one lived in this area before that as Papeete means "water basket" Area is full of natural springs, one is called the Queens bath and is situated in our government or Assembly gardens. Stop at the Presidential place and learn about our government and how we became French in the 1840's and how this affects modern polynésian life.
