Dining at Curcuma at the Sheraton Resort in Takoriki was easily one of the highlights of my entire two-week stay in Fiji. The food was spectacular. My absolute favorite meal in all of Fiji came from Curcuma: the Aloo Tikki Chaat, perfectly spiced with just the right crunch and brightness, followed by the rich Butter Chicken. The cocktails are just as memorable. I tried many drinks during my trip, but the Masala Chai Sour at Curcuma was hands down my favorite drink of the entire vacation—aromatic, balanced, and the perfect match for the spices in the food. Tucked inside the Sheraton Tokoriki, Curcuma offers a refined Indian dining experience with a beautiful island twist. The open-air, thatched-roof setting creates a warm, relaxed atmosphere—perfect for a tropical evening. Open only for dinner, Curcuma is popular and has limited seating, so reservations are strongly recommended. All meals are either two or three courses. I ordered the Aloo Tikki Chaat, Butter Chicken, and Gulab Jamun as part of the three-course thali-style menu. The Aloo Tikki Chaat arrived crisp and golden, topped with tangy yogurt, tamarind chutney, and a medley of spices—vibrant and full of flavor. The Butter Chicken was tender and coated in a rich, creamy tomato sauce, perfectly paired with warm naan and fragrant basmati rice. It was easily some of the best and most authentic Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Dessert was Gulab Jamun—two warm, syrup-soaked dumplings sprinkled with almond slivers—comforting, sweet, and the ideal way to finish the meal. Service was attentive yet unhurried, allowing time to savor both the dishes and the setting. While pricing is on the higher side (as expected for a resort in the Mamanucas), the quality, authenticity, and serene ambiance make Curcuma a must-visit while staying at Tokoriki. Short version: Chef Parveen is spectacular & the only bad thing was that they were closed 2 of the 9 nights of my stay. A Nightly Masterpiece!! And the view was the cherry on top. Now for the details… I ate here night after night, and let me tell you — consistency like this should win awards. Every dish arrived like it had something to prove, and it proved it boldly. The flavors didn’t just show up; they paraded in, linked arms, and sang harmonies. Vacancy was a bit low this week, so Chef Parveen joyously treated me to a custom selection for my last four nights after I had gleefully run the menu gambit. From the first bite, the spices hit that perfect balance: vibrant without being overwhelming, aromatic without drifting into perfume territory. Each curry felt like it had been slow-talked into greatness, layered with depth you can taste before the spoon even reaches your mouth. The gravies? They clung lovingly to the rice like they were reunited after a long-distance relationship. Even the simplest things were elevated — the brightness of fresh mint, the warmth of roasted cumin, the slight sweetness that pops up in the background just when you think the story’s over. Every night was its own flavor journey, but the destination was always the same: pure satisfaction. If you want Indian cuisine that doesn’t miss — not even once — this place is the kind of spot you return to until you’ve tried the entire menu… and then start over. Or if you’re adventurous, ask Chef Parveen to surprise you.
