I mean it is a decent place. The decor is stunning. We came as soon as it opened and it was not crowded. However, 2/3 orders were wrong or they forgot something with the order, the waiter kind of wandered off and we had to ask other staff to get her attention or bring us things. The hot chocolate was amazing tho. Very cool spot. Both locals and tourists were eating there. Loved the live music around 7pm! My local friends recommended that I get the hot chocolate here and it was delicious! A modest entrance hides a classically beautiful interior. The staff are all polite and efficient, providing excellent service throughout. The food is traditional and on the pricier side, expect to spend around 400 pesos per person. The decor features religious symbols and paintings that add to the unique atmosphere. It’s a popular spot, so it can get a bit noisy, but overall, it's a charming and enjoyable experience.

Went for breakfast twice during a short trip. Tried the tamales, huge, and amazingly flavor. Tried the Chilaquiles rojo de pollo. Also great. Don’t pass up the hot chocolate!

We had had a DAY as the city was basically in a full fledged gridlock because of protests and demonstrations. We were frustrated, wet and starving. We came into Cafe de Tecuba and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our server only spoke Spanish - which I speak a little and attempted to order for us - when I wasn’t sure what she was asking I began to type it into google translate to help. She grabbed fellow server who spoke English and quickly and happily helped us. They both checked on us multiple times during the meal ensuring that we were happy and had what we needed. We ordered the poblano chicken and the chilaquiles- both were so good and came out quickly. It was such a nice end to a rather frustrating day.
