An absolute hidden gem! This Japanese tapas restaurant was a delightful surprise from start to finish (the perfect spot for a surprise date - 10 points to the Hubby). Every dish was a small work of art: delicate, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour in a way that felt both refined and comforting. It was such a treat to try dishes I wouldn't normally go for, and each one was a revelation. The ambiance was elegant without being pretentious — tables were dressed immaculately, and every detail of the setting felt thoughtfully considered. Table service was smooth, attentive, and elevated the entire experience. Truly not a single fault to be found. A memorable dining experience that I’d recommend in a heartbeat. Five stars without hesitation!

I arrived on a quiet afternoon between lunch and dinner. As it was quiet I made an off menu request which is not something most places would normally do and I don't do because I don't want to be “that guy” I spoke to Sam and then the chef Guy. The service was fantastic, another table came and sat down and then left without eating. Sam still cleaned and wiped the table despite it being perfectly clean and set ready for the next customer. That's a level of cleanliness and attention to detail that's impressive to say the least. The food was absolutely phenomenal, let the photos speak for themselves. I haven't edited or enhanced them. One of the best bowls I've had in my life. I had a couple of old fashioneds with it to wash it down. Definitely coming back!

We visited this gorgeous little Japanese fusion restaurant last night and all I can say is… WOW!! No seriously, it totally blew us avid foodies away! The menu is tapas based dining which allows you to share and taste a few different dishes across the table. Each and every dish was presented beautifully with the flavors absolutely bang on each time. I’m personally not a fan of heads and tails left on prawns when they are in a sauce based dish, but the messy fingers were so minor considering the flavor the dish packed. Food was quick to the table each time and those desserts to finish… just wow! They also have an extensive drinks menu to complement whatever you may choose to eat. Hospitality of the staff was absolutely outstanding! All extremely friendly and personable, they never missed a beat and we were never left waiting to try and get someone’s attention. We have already started recommending to our local friends and family and will be sure to bring our guests here also. An absolute must visit!

If you are ever in Cairns, KOI Bar and Restaurant is an absolute must try! I loved this place so much that I returned the very next evening for another meal. On my first night I tried the scallops (to die for), the Wagu beef, pork gyozas, tuna tataki and the kingfish crudo. Every single one of these dishes was a winner. On my second night I tried the salmon sashimi, spicy prawns and the Wagu beef tartare (the best I’ve had in my life). Not only was the food incredible but the service was amazing! Meg and Chiara were both the nicest, most helpful and welcoming waitresses in the whole of Cairns. I can not recommend this place more. THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME

I took my kids and family here for a weekend lunch, and we absolutely loved it! The food was incredibly delicious and won over everyone’s taste buds. We ordered a variety of dishes, and each one was flavorful with generous portions. This place is perfect for couples and families—great atmosphere, friendly service, and a fantastic location right by the beach. The view was so relaxing, making our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
