I had an amazing time at the cooking class! The food was absolutely delicious, and the explanations were clear and easy to follow. The host was incredibly welcoming and made me feel comfortable right away. The atmosphere was so warm and friendly — we all ate, drank, and laughed together, and I genuinely had a great time. Everything was perfectly organized, and the hostess’s kindness and hospitality made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was such a pleasant evening with great food, fun company, and wonderful hosting. I’d highly recommend this experience to everyone!

What’s better than a home-cooked meal? Traveling and eating a home-cooked meal! Within the walls of old town Dubrovnik is a little gem called Local. This family owned and run restaurant is intimate and cozy. The meal served is Peka, which is a traditional dish of the region, slow-cooked under a bell-shaped lid, buried in hot embers of charcoal or oak wood. Veal, potatoes, and homemade sides come together in a dish that’s tender, smoky, and full of deep, rich flavor. Peka refers to the way the meal is prepared under the domes. It takes hours to prepare.. and is delicious! We added on a charcuterie board with olives, homemade bread and salad paired with some delicious red wine from the local region. The main dish is tender, juicy and full of flavor. The restaurant setting is beautiful in an open concept dining room with local art hanging around the outer edges. There’s limited amount of seating, so reservations are a must! There’s restaurant also offers a cooking class and an olive oil experience. From the first communication I had with Marja I knew I was choosing an event I would be so pleased with. I was not wrong. This was absolutely the best experience of our entire 16 day Croatian vacation. from the moment I laid eyes on Marja she hugged me and welcomed us in just like family. The night consistent of amazing fresh charcuterie boards. Grappa, and lemon cello for starters! Thehighlight of the night was veal Peka (a traditional Croatian meal). Lots of wine flowed throughout the night. Many. Zivjeli (Croatian cheers) we had throughout the night. Many laughs and lots of stories. We felt like we were at a family dinner back at home ! I had let Marja know I was celebrating turning 60. The night ended with a wonderful birthday celebration. I truly cannot say enough good things about this family and the experience. If you want one of the best local Croatian experiences they have I highly recommend you book the experience. Thank you so much to the entire Papak family for giving us a night filled with memories to last a lifetime!!!

Hidden gem of Dubrovnik is here!! The most delicious food, peka out of this world! The owner Marija and her son Josip are wonderful! Also my mom and I met two wonderful people,Sarah and Jeremy, and it made the experience in this beautiful restaurant that much memorable! Definitely visit and enjoy this family owned restaurant! 🩷💞🫶🏼🌞

If you ever visit the Old Town in Dubrovnik, make sure you experience the magic of LOCAL Restaurant — a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable Peka gourmet feast crafted by a truly extraordinary family. The heart and soul of this place are Zlatko and Marija, the head chefs, with wonderful support from their son Josip and daughter Lea. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed not just as a guest but as part of their home — warm smiles, genuine hospitality, and a love for cooking that you can feel in every detail. This is not just dinner; it’s an act of love, and if there were more than 5 stars to give, they would deserve them all. We enjoyed the full experience — starting with homemade grappa and limoncello, followed by a charcuterie and cheese platter, fresh bread, salad, and generous pours of local wine. But the highlight is the veal “under the bell,” slow-cooked for hours with tender potatoes — absolutely to die for. As the evening unfolds, you’ll share stories, laughter, and even learn the family’s beautiful history from Josip himself. This is a four-hour culinary journey you’ll never forget — heartfelt, authentic, and unlike anything else in Dubrovnik. Don’t leave the city without dining here. It’s a must.
