We loved “The World’s End”. It is a very homey pub, with a great draught beer selection and a really good food menu. The two bartenders we had were outstanding. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual; great for couples or gatherings of friends. Delicious food, friendly staff, and great atmosphere. I had the Salmon and Vintage Cheddar Fish cakes and they were amazing. Everyone in the group loved their food. I highly recommend eating here. Nice pub with authentic feel. Took a bit of time to get seated but once that was done service was good. Food was just OK, was hoping to eat the slow cooked pork belly but apparently it's no longer in the menu. Had wild boar sausages instead which tasted disappointingly tame, though the sauce was great.

Superb food and service! They were absolutely lovely and took great care of me as a solo dinner. I had a fantastic traditional dinner of steak and ale pie with an absolutely incredible grilled cabbage wedge and mash. The real star, however, was the haggis patties as a starter. I love haggis and these were some of the best I’ve ever had. And I could have bathed in the gravy. It was wayyy too much food for me but I somehow managed to eat most of it since I’d walked all day! Also bought a t-shirt for my son as a fun souvenir. Thank you to the wonderful staff at The World’s End for a great experience!

When visiting the John Knox Home Museum, the woman helping us suggested this place. It's a rainy Wednesday early evening and although it was busy in this small restaurant, we were seated within 10 minutes without a reservation. We were intrigued by the story, but impressed with the food for its creativity, freshness, and robust flavors. We started with the Pulled Beef Rib Croquettes and Aspargus & Feta Salad with peas & mint. Both starters were fantastic and bursting with flavor. For dinner we chose a Pulled Mushroom Chilli with black beans, parsley Bismanti Rice, and guacamole and a small salad. Also we shared Salmon Fishcakes & Vintage Cheddar with a side salad with lots of delicious veggies and three times cooked fries. For desert we shared a Blackberry Elderberry Eton Mess. It was not too sweet, but full of flavor with meringue slivers for a crunch.
