If you’re looking for a place to grab a bite in Aguas Calientes, Magguis is a great option. There is plenty of seating. The menu offers something if for everyone During happy hour we were given complimentary pisco sours The food tasted great, and if you ask for sauces, the mayonnaise (verde) is delicious I noticed their sign advertising “hamburguesa vegetariana” (vegetarian burger) plus “ensalada” (salad) plus “ papas” (potatoes) for 20 soles and thought it sounded like a reasonable price for the combo. I confirmed before sitting down that was what they offered. She asked me for the drink choice and looking at their menu with no prices for craft beers I asked if the number 25 next to amber ale was the price. She said no, that the price was 28 and then pointed to their 2 for 1 sign mentioning happy hour. I thought it was too high a price for a glass of beer compared to the price of meal and said exactly that. Then she came back with a 20 offer. I agreed. She went somewhere outside of the restaurant for the food and brought back a quinoa patty on a bun with two thin slices of tomato and tiny piece of green something, no sauces, onions or anything else on the bun and a few potato sticks. No ketchup. I was told that the tomatoes on the bun were in fact the salad. She left the restaurant to get the ketchup as well as the beer - not sure where I was getting everything from. Fast forward to the paying time - I got a bill for the meal and a double charge for the two “happy hour” beers that were supposed to be two for one price. She was trying to explain to me that she was giving me a price when quoting based on a single beer. In a word, I felt like I got into a tourist trap where you cannot believe anything you see or hear. Here I tried one of the best Pollo a la Brasa I had during my Peruvian Trip. It was the breast side of the chicken, and it had flavor on each bite. Now back at home, I crave for it and it was a simple dish. Highly recommend it!

Great restaurant! Big portions, good food and nice service. Me and my mum enjoyed our dinner at Magguis!

just a bit of a dodgy scam like most restaurants in Aguas calientes. Ordering an amber ale we got a pale ale, neither the first nor second waiter knew the prices but they had to answer the restaurant for every super basic question. And my promised “nachos muy grandes” (communicating in spanish) were well at most medium.
