Very nice looking place. Very spacious and chill. Came here for late lunch. Ordered the duck egg fried kueh teow. Big prawns. Personally i prefer a more charred noodles. But this had good mild balance taste. perhaps would be better with some chilli padi. The peach gum dessert is Fantastic. Very generous and not too sweet. would come back here for this alone. They have cold and hot variant. Yumm Yumm..

Visited Hwa Ting Restaurant for lunch and tried several dishes, including the Duck Egg Char Kuey Tiao, San Tan Noodles, and Prawn Rolls. The noodles were flavorful and well-prepared, and overall food quality was good. The 2 drinks recommended by the waiter was nice! The restaurant’s décor is elegant and the service attentive. However, the dining area was quite cold, causing the food to cool down quickly—especially noticeable for slower eaters. A pleasant dining experience overall, with tasty dishes and good service, though a slightly warmer room temperature would make it even better.

Hwa Ting Restaurant is such a hidden gem in George Town! The interior design is absolutely beautiful — elegant and cozy at the same time. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience even better. And the food… simply delicious 😋 Everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Penang!

Hua Ting Restaurant in Penang is a hidden gem for anyone craving an authentic plate of Char Koay Teow. Their version balances the signature wok hei (that smoky, charred aroma) with just the right mix of silky flat rice noodles, juicy prawns, cockles, Chinese sausage, and bean sprouts. The noodles are not overly oily, yet they retain a satisfying springiness that soaks up the savory soy-based seasoning. What stands out here is the consistency – every plate feels carefully crafted rather than rushed. The prawns are fresh and plump, the cockles cooked just right to keep their natural sweetness, and the chili adds a subtle kick without overwhelming the flavors. It’s a cleaner-tasting Char Koay Teow compared to some street stalls, but it still delivers the depth and smokiness Penang is famous for. If you enjoy Char Koay Teow but prefer a restaurant setting over a roadside stall, Hua Ting strikes a good balance: you get the authentic taste in a more comfortable dining environment.

Enjoyed our meal at Hwa Ting Café, which offers a variety of tasty local and Malaysian cuisine. The wantan curry stood out with its unique twist, featuring extra ingredients not usually found in the standard version. The duck egg char koay teow is also worth recommending. The dining ambiance is relaxing and spacious, with authentic old Penang décor. Service was prompt and friendly.
