Ivy and Jack

We ate here several times during our stay at the attached Holiday Inn City Centre, and the breakfast was definitely the highlight. The buffet was fresh, tasty, and had a great variety. A nice touch was the option of two types of bacon: crispy and regular. The egg station was also a standout, with made-to-order eggs cooked to your liking. The automatic coffee machine with self-serve pods was a really nice addition, producing pretty good coffee. The effort and care that went into preparing the breakfast buffet was evident, and it felt far removed from the typical hotel buffet experience. The ambience was also pleasant, with relaxing music playing in the background. Dinner was also enjoyable, with generous portions and professional, friendly wait staff. Given that we often prefer to dine outside the hotel, it was a pleasant surprise to find the hotel's dining options so satisfying.

This is the restaurant and bar that forms part of the Holiday Inn on Hay Street and serves both a great breakfast selection and doubles as a decent evening bar whilst being family friendly. Not sure what beer to have then they will happily pour you a couple of tasters. I went for a pint of local Little Creatures IPA which was excellent. Friendly staff and a selection of sport tv screens too

Very Disappointing Experience at Ivy and Jack’s We visited Ivy and Jack’s as a group of two, and although there were only about 20 people in total at the venue and around 5 staff members, the service was shockingly poor. We ordered a Caprese pizza, arancini, and coffees. After waiting almost 30 minutes with no sign of our food, we went to check with the staff—only to be told that our order had been mistakenly served to the wrong table. We were not informed and were left sitting there, starving. When the pizza finally arrived, it was completely burnt—blackened crust and not even edible. We had to request a refund. Our arancini arrived much later and was actually quite good, as were the coffees. We also ordered a muffin with our coffee, but it took about 10 minutes to arrive and came out cold. We asked for it to be warmed, but it was still cold when served again. The front-of-house host who attended to us offered the worst service we’ve experienced in a long time—unengaged and careless. As someone who also works in the hospitality industry, I understand that mistakes happen, but the way this was handled showed a clear lack of attention and professionalism. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

We have both our lunch and dinner at Ivy and Jack today, 16 Nov 26. Food is nice with high standard of service too.

love this place and the ambience! staff here are also very friendly and cater to your needs, family friendly and even has a buffet! wine and beer selection are amazing :)
