I cannot say enough how LOVELY this place is!! We were in New Orleans this past week and ate here 3 times! Yes..the food is that good!! The staff were exceptional, consistent and friendly each visit. I had the baked ham, debris po’boy, fried shrimp, red beans n rice, potato salad and bread pudding over the course of 3 visits..lemme tell you..EVERYTHING was delicious!! I’m not a bread pudding fan typically, it’s just not my thing..however my mom ordered it and I caught a smell and had to try it.. well the taste was unreal!! I was made I didn’t order any!! The red beans were amazing with large chunks of ham and sausage mixed throughout, the potato salad was the one that came out of left field..oh my goodness was it delicious!! I didn’t think potato salad could be THAT good. The fried gulf shrimp were delectable and the debris po’boy was fantastic. The food here is comforting and wholesome… Please…do yourself a favor..GO HERE and try for yourself!! I ordered the Fried Gulf Shrimp Po'Boy and a cup of Jerry's Jambalaya. There was a 20-minute wait for the jambalaya, so I received a complimentary slice of Pecan Pie. Everything I ate was excellent! The jambalaya was my favorite of the three items with healthy chunks of protein and the perfect heat level. On my next visit, I want to try the Gumbo and Fried Chicken. Al, my server, was friendly and readily available with a refill or to respond to any of my requests. If you want to leave a tip, you'll need to have cash on hand because you pay for your meal up front. I appreciated Al being proactive with offering me a complimentary dessert when there was a long wait time for my jambalaya. It helped stave off any potential frustration. I love the ambiance of this place. Its history is covered on the walls and they do a great job taking care of frequent local customers and new tourists. I loved eating at Mother's Restaurant and will eat here again. This place is great! You might need to wait as it is a small restaurant, but the food and service are WELL worth the wait. We had the jambalaya, split pea soup and different variety of hams. The blackened ham was my favorite, but everything was delicious. We will definitely be making our way back the next time we're in New Orleans.

You really do have to go to Mother's at least once every trip to NOLA. The food is always great even if you have to stand in line outside for it. Crawfish etouffee, crawfish omelet and Mother's Breakfast on this trip. The smoked sausage was out of this world and the Bloody Mary was awesome. We keep this on the list for all our trips.

Mum would be proud of the food and the efficiency of this place. The food was very nice, and there were a range of options (less-so for vegetarians). We had a celiac in our group who felt she was well catered for. Service is somewhat chaotic, but efficient nonetheless. The food came in about 10 minutes after sitting down. Half portions are available which are suitable for lunch. They claim for have the best baked ham in the world, which I tried amongst a sandwich, but would say perhaps I’d need to try in its own right to rank above all others internationally. A curious operating system, whereby you order at the till, place your receipt at a table of choice to be collected by a waiter preceding delivery of food. We pondered on how the waiting staff remember which receipts came from which tables.
